Born on June 6th, 1929, Sunil Dutt was one of the eminent actors in India who grew up as Balraj Dutt in the family that had survived the partition of India. He was a student of the Mumbai Jai Hind College and started with the radio show host and a celebrity interview. Later on, this phase of life made him a celeb too. He had an encounter with the glamour world. Once upon a time, he was also the cabinet minister for youth affairs and sports during the Manmohan Singh government between 2004 and 2005.


Early life & career
By profession, Sunil Dutt was an Indian film actor, director, producer, and politician. He was the former Sheriff of Mumbai as well. The father of actor Sanjay Dutt and politician Priya was honored by the Padma Shri by the government of India. His inspiration was Swami Vivekananda. Right after completion of the studies from Surendranath College, Kolkata, he started with the profession of writing articles for various magazines. The Brahmin by caste was born in 1928 in the village of Khurd in the Jhelum District of Punjab. He finally settled in the small town on the bank of the river Yamuna that is also referred to as a Yamunanagar district of Haryana. Later on, he moved to Delhi for the achievement of his dreams. As soon as he moved to Delhi, he joined Jai Hind College as an undergraduate and took up for the job.

Achievements

Sunil Dutt had decided on building a career in the Indians cinema industry and started working in the super hit movies. During the 1950 and 1963, he proved to become one of the top actors of Bollywood and won the Filmfare best actor award for the movies Mujhe Jeene Do in 1963 and Khandan in 1965. In 1964, he also received the national film award for the best feature film in Hindi on it for the movie Yaadein.

Bollywood career


Sunil Dutt had started in the radio when he became the hugely popular announcer on the Hindi service radio station of Ceylon. This is one of the oldest radio stations in South Asia then; he started with his acting career in Hindi films and got an introduction to the film industry in the year 1955 film railway platform. He had shot to Stardom in the 1957 film Mother India where he had also co-starred with Nargis, whom he later married on March 11th, 1958. In the movie, Sunil Datt played as the angry and short-tempered son of Nargis. During the making of the film, there was a fire accident that happened on the sets, and it was believed that Sunil Dutt was brave enough to have this rescued Nargis from the raging fire that made him win her love. He has only one son Sanjay Dutt and proved to be a successful film actor with the two daughters Priya Dutt and Namrata Dutt. His daughter Namrata married a good friend of Sunil Dutt and also Mother India co-star Rajendra Kumar’s son Kumar Gaurav. Sunil Dutt proved to be one of the major stars of Bollywood in the late 1950-1960s. He shared screens with many successful persons.

Some of the prominent movies include Sadhana, Sujata, Mujhe Jeene Do, Padosan, to name a few. He has also shown his presence in collaboration with BR Chopra in the films like Gumrah and Humraaz. He has also created the record of the shots by directing and starring in the movie like admin, where he was the one and only actor in the entire movie. In 1971 he had also produced, directed, and starred in some big-budget periodic movies. One of the most eminent among them is Reshma Aur Shera in 1971. Besides, the Bollywood movies have also starred in the series of the Punjabi religious movies in 1976 like Mann Jeete Jag Jeet, Dukh Bhanjan Tera Naam, as well as Sat Sri Akaal. He had also proved useful enough in his Political career that was halted for some years in 1990 when he started working to free his son from jail after he got arrested following the Hindu Muslim clashes in Mumbai. He had marked his return to films shortly in the film Munna Bhai M.B.B.S before his death in 2003. In the final movie, he had shared the screen with his son Sanjay for the first time.
He died of a heart attack in Bandra, Mumbai. His seat in Parliament was also later contested by his daughter, Priya Dutt, and he proved to become a Member of Parliament from North-West Mumbai.

The loyalties of Sunil Dutt lay towards the Grand old party of India and the sister Priya who took his place to become a Congress member. She had fought and won in the 2009 general elections.

1.Before taking over the Indian cinema, he had to face many hardships, and the actor had started the career only as of the show host at a radio station.
2.He also used to interview celebrities on the show, which led to the actor for getting a glimpse of the cinema world and living his dream.
3.It was during the chat on the radio show that he met Nargis, who was already an actor at that time. Later on, he married her.
4.Sunil Dutt proved to be a favorite star of their South Indian film industry, and he became the most sought after actor of the south industry.
5.He had almost survived the plane crash in 2001, which became an unfortunate part of his life. It was one of the most dangerous accidents when the plane crash-landed in Bhaduri village in Nashik district while he was returning after the function from Maharashtra.
6.He had saved in the fire during the shoot of Mother India. His heroic action tackled the situation. In the set, he immediately grabbed the blanket and jumped into the place for bringing out Nargis.
