The Met Gala 2021: Red Carpet, Outfits, And More

Fashion is truly an expressive form of art. That is what the Met Gala 2021 proved to us with its stunning repertoire of outfits. The event dubbed ‘Fashion’s most important night out’ was well thought out and made heads turn as stars strutted their best on the red carpet.

This year, the event was hosted by Keke Palmer and Ilana Glazer, live from the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday, 13th September.

There was quite an uproar in New York as Morning turned into evening unveiling the Met Gala 2021 in all its splendor.

As the sunset, the museum was slowly filling up with familiar faces of media. The event was attended by many celebrities such as Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Timothée Chalamet, Lil Nas X, Iman, Lupita Nyong’o, etc. Throughout the evening as the hosts introduced the stars. Everyone was served with looks on looks on looks.

The Met Gala is infamously known as the night that fans go all out on rating their celebrities’ looks. And tonight was no exception. Some outfits wowed the crowd and landed in the hall of fame. And some not so much. Nonetheless, the night was filled with love and appreciation for the designers. The designers who poured their heart and soul into making the outfits

As the celebrities each went through an interview with the host Keke Palmer, fan’s got to know what In America: A Lexicon of Fashion meant for them. We had different meanings thrown here and there. Some were talking about embracing the American culture, and some were talking about the modernity of American Fashion. But, it was nice to see the diversity in everyone’s take on the theme and its meaning.

Another thing about this Year’s Met Gala was the grand centerpiece that changes every year for the. The Met is known for being eccentric with its centerpieces each year. This year, the centerpiece chosen was mighty yet calming in a sense. It was a Grand Oak Tree centerpiece which was strikingly beautiful as the outfits themselves. The tree was made up of recycled material and was surrounded by a patch of wheatgrass. The centerpiece was made as a collaboration by floral designer Raúl Àvila and landscape artist Miranda Brooks.

Since the Met Gala is all about fashion. The moment you waited is finally here. We cannot do a piece on the Met without talking about creativity and some of the best looks.

Well, it’s safe to say that tonight, the Met Gala was overflowing with creativity. We saw creativity flow through every nook and cranny as celebrities wore Givenchy, Oscar De La Renta, Versace, Haider Ackermann, etc. And proof to that is Model Imans in Gucci, the model rocked a larger-than-life golden pantsuit, on top of which is a structural skirt with a headpiece that resembles the radiating sun.

Some of the celebrities wore outfits that had a backstory or inspiration shown by Kendall Jenner in Givenchy. The model wore an embellished see-through or sheer gown. When asked about it, she said that owing to her friendship with the designer, and she chose to see Audrey Hepburn in the classic 1964 film My Fair Lady, which inspired the dress to come to life through his eyes.

Keeping it classic yet modern were celebrities like Timothée Chalamet in Haider Ackermann. The Actor was one of the co-chairs, and people assumed he would go all out. But, he decided on a rather simple yet statemental outfit that stole all the eyes in the Met. Timothée wore an all-white ensemble, with a tuxedo jacket and black lapels. And tieing it together were white converse and sweats.

We had the Queen of fashion Rihanna herself as she walked the carpet in Balenciaga hand in hand with her boyfriend A$AP Rocky. The singer-songwriter wore an all-black ensemble as she walked in and left everyone gaping while her boyfriend rocked a multicolored piece by Eli Russell Linnetz.

We also had another co-chair who made heads turn that night, and that is none other than Billie Eilish Herself, the singer all decked out in a tulle corset gown by Oscar De La Renta. She looked magical and like a princess.
