Govind Arun Ahuja was born on born 21st December 1963, generously known as Govinda. He is an Indian film actor, and comedian, dancer, former politician, known best for his work in Hindi-language films.

He is famous for his entertaining performances and dancing skill. He is considered an incredibly successful actor in Bollywood and a mass entertainer. As of now, Govinda has received 12 Filmfare Awards nominations, a Filmfare Award for Best Comedian, a Filmfare Special Award,and4 Zee Cine Awards.

He has appeared in more than 165 Hindi films. Govinda's first film was in 1986&39;s Ilzaam. In a BBC News In the online poll, he was voted the tenth-greatest star of the screen. Early life
Govinda was born on 21 December 1963.His father was a former actor Aroon(alias Arun Kumar Ahuja) and mother was a singer-actress Nirmala Devi, with Punjabi and Sindhi roots.

His father, Aroon, came to Mumbai from Gujranwala, which is now in Pakistan, to become an actor in the late 1930s. He is popularly known for appearing in Mehboob Khan’s Aurat (1940). Aroon’s professional career as an actor lasted for 15 years. In these years, he worked in 30 films as a hero.

He produced one unsuccessful film, which caused the financial loss in his family. His family was, living in a bungalow on Mumbai's Carter Road and moved to Virar, a northern Mumbai suburb, where a talented actor Govinda was borne. He was given the pet name "Chi-Chi," meaning "little finger" in
Punjabi. Govinda has an elder brother Kirti Kumar who is also an actor, and has four elder sisters.

Achievements
In 1991, in the hit film ‘Hum,’ he appeared alongside Amitabh Bachchan and Rajnikant. He appeared in ‘Zulm Ki Hukumat,’ an Indian version of The Godfather. Aankhen was his, the highest-successful film of 1993. Bollywood Career
His father suggested a career in films after Govinda received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Vartak College, Vasai. After this time, Govinda saw the film Disco Dancer, and as a result, afterward, he practiced for several hours and circulated a promotional VHS cassette. He was offered job offers in a fertilizer commercial and an Allwyn ad.

He was then offered the role of Abhimanyu in the popular mythological serial Mahabharat (1988 TV series) during its casting, and he also had auditioned for it, but soon he bunched his first Bollywood film debut. He did his debut lead role in the movie Tan-Badan opposite the lead actress Kushboo, directed by his uncle Anand. After this, Govinda began shooting for his next film, which was Love 86, in June 1985. His first released movie was Ilzaam (1986), which was a box office superhit which was a huge success.

He then went on to act in many films of various genres between the year 1987 and 1989, including the family dramas like Khudgarz (1987), Ghar Ghar Ki Kahani (1988), Dariya Dil (1988), and action and drama films including Marte Dam Tak (1987), Hatya (1988), Jeete Hain Shaan Se (1988), and Jung Baaz (1989). Govinda then worked along with David Dhawan for the first time in the 1989 action film Taaqatwar and worked with the actor Rajinikanth and Sridevi in the movie Gair Kanooni, the similar year.

Govinda then appeared in the successful movie Partner. The film was the second-highest income-generating film of the year. His performance earned him several awards, including Zee Cine Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role – Male and IIFA Best Comedian Award, and Zee Cine Award. In the year 2013 Govinda made his Bengali film debut in the film Samadhi. In the year 2004, Govinda joined the Congress Party and was elected to the Lok Sabha from Mumbai. In 2008 he then decided to leave his political career and concentrate on his Bollywood acting career.

Controversy
In Jan 2008, at Flimistan Studio in Mumbai, Govinda slapped a struggling actor, Santosh Rai, on the acting sets of Money Hai Toh Honey Hai. On 5 Feb 2009, Rai filed a complaint against Govinda by accusing him of assault and crime. The court ruled against Rai in 2013. In 2014, Rai took this case to the Supreme Court, saying that he felt very humiliated when he was slapped by Govinda and he came to Mumbai to become an actor. According to Rai, he had fight the case for six years in the court and had spent 5lakh–6lakh on attorney fees. As the actor did not apologize, Rai was more determined to fight the case in court. In Dec 2015, the supreme court asked Govinda to apologize for slapping the actor and solved the matter out of the court immediately within two weeks. Govinda said that he respects the court’s decision and would decide when he receives it in writing.
